Another innovation is chilled out explorations of local Bangkok life. You can visit Klong Lad Mayom floating market, or take an evening journey down Bangkok’s canals at sunset.
The hotel also offers free wireless internet access, travel advice and seasonal welcome drinks.
How does it help ?
Phranakorn Nornlen opened in 2005 with the concept of slow life, working to respect nature and give guests the chance to meet the real community. The hotel gives honest recommendations, based on cultural values and product quality, including local vendors and markets. The hotel does not offer or accept commissions. This policy supports local community members and guests.
The hotel actively supports small-farm businesses practicing sustainable agriculture for the benefit of local communities and the environment. For example, the hotel’s organic milk is from Dairy Home farm who are committed to ethical cow breeding. Their eggs are organic and free range.
The hotel’s organic roof top garden supplies the hotel’s herbs, and is a workshop for government organizations studying practical examples of sustainable farming in urban environments.
The hotel built their own small lab to make eco-products like liquid soap, shampoo, mosquito repellent, massage oil, salt scrub and floor cleaner, that are kind to nature and safe to users.
The team also pooled resources to start a small shop to support community products. The products are socially and environmentally friendly. Profits are shared between staff members.
The hotel welcomes real travellers, with a sincere interested to learn about new cultures, enjoy organic food and engage with nature and community. The hotel does not welcome sex-tourists.
